Sarah
Trinity Christian College
Mission Field: Dominican Republic
Question: What did you learn growing up on the mission field?
Sarah: I was born and raised (until the age of 15) in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Growing up in that culture and on the mission field has taught me many things. People skills is something that living on the mission field helped me develop. Being able to talk to new people, and connect with them and their story is something that has helped me in my life today. Another important thing that being on the mission field has taught me was how to trust in God and His plan even in the hard times and when things are not going as you planned. Things don’t always go your way but that doesn’t mean God is not there with you. In moments like these, I learned that you be patient and trust that His will still be done.
Question: Why did you choose a Christian college?
Sarah: I decided to go to a Christian college so that I could continue growing in my faith while learning in the classroom. Trinity has allowed me to continue to make connections between my future career, personal life, and the Bible.
Question: How has CMSF helped you on your journey?
Sarah: I am so grateful for CMSF’s help when it comes to being able to attend Trinity Christian College. College is not cheap, especially attending a private college. CMSF has helped me be able to attend this amazing Christian college by alleviating some financial weight.
Question: What is your major and how do you plan to use it after you graduate?
Sarah: My major is elementary education with a minor in ESL/bilingual education. After I graduate, I currently do not have a set plan on what it is that I will be doing. Part of me wants to go back to the Dominican Republic and teach at a school there but then the other half of me wants to stay in the United States and work somewhere where there is a high population of immigrant families in need of an equal education. Even though I am not sure what my future looks like, I am not really stressed or overwhelmed by it because I truly do believe that God has a plan. I plan on listening to His voice and doing whatever it is He wants me to wherever that may be.
